Rise Up Challenge presented by Leitner-Poma & Ski Area Management
Recently, I had the honor of working closely with our lift maintenance team to create a video showcasing an upcoming lift mechanic, Nick Gilbertson, who was nominated for the SAM & Leitner-Poma Of America Rise-Up Challenge.
This project pushed my creative boundaries due to the many unplanned obstacles; fire closures, monsoons, and static storms. I\’m incredibly proud of Nick, his dedication to the Snowbowl Team, and his unmatched work ethic. It was truly a pleasure to put this together for Nick and Arizona Snowbowl.

My Gear for the Project
Due to the time constraints of this project and losing nearly two weeks of shooting, I had to keep my gear simple.
The majority of the video was shot with the GoPro Hero 10 and a Polar Pro ND8 filter due to the overcast day. I shot with no stabilization and used ReelSteady in post to smooth out the footage. For the drone shots I used a mix of shots from the DJI Mavic Air 2 & the DJI FPV Drone with the GoPro Hero 10 mounted on the top.
