DJI Osmo Action 3 release and Leaks

DJI has been in the action camera business for just a few short years now and has continued to be a worthy competitor with GoPro. From the initial release of the DJI Osmo Action in May 2019 to its modular successor the DJI Action 2, DJI has continued to bring its own unique twist to the action camera world.

The teaser sent out earlier today, titled \”Looking for Those Who Go Beyond\”, shows a silhouetted version of the new action camera with the large screen illuminated on the rear.

The new camera appears to stray away from the modular design of its predecessor and has returned to a similar form to the original Osmo Action. Although the modular design was innovative it just truly wasn\’t a cost-effective solution when going head to head with the GoPro 10. Extra batteries, modules, and accessories were just too expensive making the Action 2 a costly camera after everything was said and done.

GoPro leaks have also been surfacing on the internet lately, with people speculating that the Hero 11 won\’t be much different from the Hero 10. Most likely, there will only be minor upgrades from Hero 10 and we can expect a similar form factor as the Hero 10.

Knowing the Hero 11 may not bring any significant upgrades this year, it would be great if the DJI Osmo Action 3 offers larger sensors, better low-light performance, and improved Rocksteady stabilization – or at least give users Gyroflow to stabilize their footage during post-production.

DJI has always done an excellent job with video stabilization in their drones so hopefully, they can bring that same level of quality to the action camera world.

Regardless of what features are actually introduced, I\’m happy to see DJI staying within this market and continuing to drive innovation through competition. Register for updates through DJI here or catch the event on their YouTube channel on September 14.
